Matriarch

Maasai elders hold significant authority and respect within their communities, acting as custodians of cultural knowledge and traditions. They play a crucial role in decision-making processes, guiding younger generations with wisdom accumulated over years of experience. Elders also mediate disputes, oversee important rituals and ceremonies, and ensure the preservation of Maasai heritage and social norms.  Across the Atlantic Ocean, Dominican women might as well be elders of the Maasai, mediating all the family disputes, making decisions on behalf of the family, and overseeing the family traditions are being followed.  I was inspired by the grandmothers and great grandmothers in my life.
