I was inspired by the way that the Dabke dance form celebrates men's community, as they hold each other, and dance together. Their brotherhood is so evident, and their joy so contagious! I imagined one of these dancers modeling the steps for others, maybe dancing outdoors under the sun during a festival.

\nDabke is a form of line dancing, similar to country line dancing in the United States, that was born in the Levante region of the Middle East. The name of this dance comes from a Levantine word "Dabaka", which means "stomping of the feet" - characteristic of this dance. Women can also dance dabke, but belly dancing is what we associate with female dancers in the West.
